Job Title: Technical Business Analyst / Technical Writer
Overview / Summary
A consultant-level Business Analyst/Technical Writer is needed to support the planning and execution of a fast-paced information security assessment program across state agencies. This role will focus on identifying risk, measuring compliance of information security programs and systems, and providing reporting and monitoring information to agency leadership.
The Business Analyst will support quality control and assurance activities, document plans and procedures, and collaborate with the Program Manager to track program progress and deliverables.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the planning and execution of statewide information security assessment initiatives and projects
- Perform quality control and assurance for program deliverables
- Document plans, procedures, and program progress
- Assess statewide shared services and security controls provided to agencies
- Assess agency-owned services and security controls across state agencies
- Track assessment progress and help resolve issues
- Document and present assessment results to agency leadership
- Track, document, and report assessment results across agencies, sectors, and statewide programs
- Gather requirements and recommendations for program improvements
- Develop policy, plan, process, and procedure documentation for the statewide information security program
- Provide status reporting for operational support tasks and related work efforts
- Identify metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) for processes and outputs
- Create, manage, and maintain documentation including:
- Process flows
- Standard operating procedures (SOPs)
- Desk manuals
- Procedural guidelines
- Review, edit, and maintain documentation consistency and accuracy for staff and vendor submissions
- Monitor and support deadlines, milestones, and activities
- Apply change, risk, and resource management practices
- Document meetings, directives, and significant phone conversations
- Develop and deliver technical program updates to leadership and staff
- Communicate program strategy, direction, and changes with IT leadership, business leadership, and IT Business Consultants
- Track key project milestones and recommend adjustments to Project Managers
- Utilize Microsoft Office tools extensively
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree OR Associate’s Degree with 2 years of Business Analysis experience
- Technical writing experience
- Ability to create effective and clear process flows and similar diagrams in PowerPoint or Visio
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent problem-solving ability
- Strong collaboration and teamwork skills
- Ability to work in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
- Ability to meet deadlines
- Ability to identify, map, and support business processes
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to simultaneously manage multiple reporting requirements
- Strong schedule management and planning skills
- Experience supporting regulatory compliance projects
- Experience with technical SOP documentation and graphic creation in Visio
- 5+ years of experience in technical writing
