Job Title: Database Architect
Overview / Summary
The Child Support Services Applications Team is responsible for developing and maintaining applications supporting the Child Support Services Division, including PACSS, SDNH, and the Client Portal application.
The Department is seeking a highly motivated professional with experience designing, developing, and supporting enterprise-scale web applications. This role will serve as both a SQL Database Administrator and Senior Developer responsible for application development and database integrations using the Microsoft SQL Server platform, including reporting, vendor exports, data warehousing, and other data-related initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and support enterprise-scale web applications and database integrations
- Develop reports, vendor exports, and data warehousing solutions using Microsoft SQL Server
- Identify, extract, and transform data based on business requirements and data governance standards
- Perform data analysis and data profiling to support data cleansing and data quality initiatives
- Interpret complex data and communicate findings effectively using advanced reporting techniques
- Standardize, harmonize, clean, prepare, and utilize datasets for reporting and analysis
- Support project teams with technical specifications and interface object development
- Lead efforts to design, test, and validate system interfaces
- Collaborate with agency IT staff and Federal partners to design, test, and implement data exchange interfaces
- Inspect and correct interface partner files in production
- Serve as the primary contact for interface production file issues during nightly batch processing
- Monitor batch processes for errors and troubleshoot issues
- Act as liaison between the Child Support team and interface partners
- Perform code, technical, and logical reviews
- Monitor database growth trends and recommend normalization strategies and maintenance improvements
- Design, develop, and manage data analysis reports using Microsoft PowerBI
- Serve as the primary DBA for Child Support related applications
- Participate in oversight and reporting of System Development Contractor performance related to development and operational activities
- Develop and maintain enterprise data ownership and stewardship metadata
- Support implementation of corporate policies, standards, and procedures related to information architecture and data governance
- Develop and maintain information architecture and data ownership awareness programs
- Monitor regulatory and compliance guidelines impacting enterprise information architecture
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience as a SQL DBA
- 5+ years of large system architecture experience
- Large scale production system implementation experience
- Experience overseeing work of Software Development Vendors
- Experience with MS SQL Server
- Experience with TFS (Team Foundation Server)
- Experience with Microsoft Visual Studio 2022
- Experience with C#, ASP.net, and/or .NET
- Experience with Powershell
- Experience with PowerBI
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- Proven ability to plan, organize, instruct, and review development team work
- Knowledge of system architecture, project management, and supervision principles and practices
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders, including State and Federal partners
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Child Support Enforcement system design and development
