Senior Backend Software Engineer (Python, Java, C++, GCP)

Overview

We are seeking a Senior Backend Software Engineer to develop and maintain backend applications and cloud-native services. The ideal candidate will have experience building scalable APIs, microservices, and cloud-based applications while collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable software solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Engage with stakeholders to understand business requirements and use cases.
Design, develop, and maintain backend applications, APIs, and microservices.
Build and maintain cloud-native services using modern development frameworks and technologies.
Develop server-side applications using Python, Java, and C++.
Design and implement REST and gRPC APIs.
Collaborate with frontend developers and cross-functional teams, including product owners, designers, and architects.
Deploy and manage applications in cloud and on-premises environments.
Monitor application health, performance, security, and disaster recovery.
Manage data storage and retrieval using database technologies.
Improve software development practices through test-driven development, continuous integration, and continuous delivery.
Optimize backend infrastructure to improve application reliability and resiliency.
Implement security best practices, including encryption and data protection.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree.
2+ years of professional experience in backend software engineering with a focus on cloud-native services on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or equivalent cloud platforms.
Proficiency in Python, Java, and C++ for backend development.
Experience designing and implementing REST and gRPC APIs.
Strong understanding of API versioning, backward compatibility, and documentation practices.
Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform services, including Cloud Run, GKE, Pub/Sub, Cloud Build, and Cloud Logging.
Experience with event-driven architectures and message queue systems.
Familiarity with GitHub-based CI/CD pipelines.
Experience using OpenTelemetry or equivalent observability frameworks.
Ability to write clean, testable, and well-documented code in a collaborative environment.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Kafka.
Experience integrating with LLM inference APIs or AI engine backends.
Familiarity with automotive or telematics data structures.
Google Cloud Professional Cloud Developer certification.
Familiarity with OpenAPI specifications and API gateway patterns on GCP.
Experience with Artificial Intelligence or Expert Systems.
