Lead the technical direction of a major Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) modernization initiative focused on designing and delivering a future-state laboratory platform. This role combines architecture, hands-on development, technical leadership, and close collaboration with laboratory and healthcare stakeholders to build scalable, compliant LIMS solutions.
Lead the design, architecture, and implementation of SAPIO LIMS and/or LabVantage solutions.
Translate laboratory and business requirements into scalable workflows, integrations, and data models.
Design and optimize laboratory processes including sample management, testing, results review, approvals, and exception handling.
Architect integrations with laboratory instruments, healthcare systems, ELN, SDMS, CDS, and enterprise platforms.
Develop and oversee APIs, microservices, custom configurations, business rules, and platform extensions.
Establish technical standards, development best practices, and architecture governance.
Conduct architecture reviews, code reviews, performance tuning, and technical quality assessments.
Lead engineering teams while mentoring developers and driving technical excellence.
Ensure compliance with GxP, 21 CFR Part 11, ALCOA+, data integrity, security, and regulatory requirements.
Support Computer System Validation (CSV) activities including URS, FRS, Traceability, IQ/OQ/PQ, and audit readiness.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
8+ years of software engineering or enterprise application development experience.
Extensive Java development experience with Spring and Spring Boot.
Strong hands-on experience with SAPIO LIMS and/or LabVantage.
Experience with Python (Flask, Django, or FastAPI).
Proven experience leading LIMS implementations, upgrades, or modernization programs.
Experience in healthcare, clinical laboratory, diagnostics, pharmaceutical, or biotechnology environments.
Expertise in REST APIs, microservices, system integrations, and backend architecture.
Experience with AWS and/or Azure cloud platforms.
Strong knowledge of SQL/NoSQL databases, data modeling, and enterprise integration patterns.
Experience with architecture reviews, troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and performance optimization.
Knowledge of CSV, regulated SDLC practices, GxP, 21 CFR Part 11, and ALCOA+.
Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and leadership skills.
Experience with SAPIO LIMS and/or LabVantage across modernization or enterprise implementation initiatives.
Cloud experience with AWS and/or Azure.
Python development using Flask, Django, or FastAPI.
