Job Title: Guidewire Technical Lead / IT Manager
Position Overview
This role combines technical leadership, application operations, strategic technology planning, and team/vendor management supporting business applications built on the Guidewire Cloud platform. The position will help maintain high availability, reliability, and stability while leading upgrades, enhancements, integrations, technology roadmaps, risk planning, and hands-on technical execution.
The role also provides technical guidance to business units and works closely with technology vendors, service providers, implementation partners, the parent company, and cybersecurity teams.
Work Location / Schedule
- Hybrid work arrangement from the company’s physical office location.
- Flexibility to travel is required, including some overnight travel.
What You'll Do / Key Responsibilities
- Ensure primary business applications built on the Guidewire Cloud platform maintain high availability, reliability, and stability.
- Lead system upgrades, enhancements, and integrations to improve performance and user experience.
- Manage internal and external support teams.
- Manage relationships with technology vendors, service providers, implementation partners, and key resources from the parent company.
- With assistance from the parent company, negotiate contracts, evaluate performance, and ensure adherence to service-level agreements.
- Maintain a forward-looking technology roadmap tailored to frontline business needs.
- Collaborate with the parent company cybersecurity team and external vendors to help ensure systems meet security and regulatory standards.
- Serve as a technical advisor to business units, helping them leverage tools effectively.
- Oversee technology risk assessments, disaster recovery planning, and business continuity readiness.
- Make sound business decisions that are in the best interest of the organization and align with the unique dynamics and intricacies of a managing general agency that underwrites aviation insurance on behalf of a pool of member insurance companies.
- Perform miscellaneous projects and administrative functions as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- 10 years of relevant work experience, including application support and/or operations experience, with extensive and recent experience as a technical lead and manager.
- Strong strategic thinking and technical depth.
- Robust understanding of technical concepts including programming with Gosu, Java, and SQL.
- Strong knowledge of industry issues and trends to champion continuous improvement and digital enablement.
- Ability to balance innovation with operational stability.
- Ability to lead both high-level strategy and hands-on execution.
- Ability to consistently perform responsibilities while being resourceful and wearing many hats.
- Ability to work effectively under time constraints and meet deadlines.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Independent thinking, self-motivation, attention to detail, strong organization, and ability to prioritize projects and work assignments.
- Willingness to take professional development, insurance, IT, and aviation-related courses.
- Attainment of relevant certifications, licenses, and continuing education to enhance performance of job requirements.
- Ability to work from the company’s physical office location on a hybrid basis.
- Flexibility to travel, including some overnight travel.
Preferred Qualifications
- BA/BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Management Information Systems.
- Prior insurance industry experience, ideally supporting Guidewire’s Policy Center, Claim Center, and Billing Center.
- Experience with cloud environments such as Azure and AWS.
