Build the infrastructure foundation for a Temporal platform designed to operate as an internal shared service. This role focuses on establishing hosting, connectivity, identity, automation, observability, reliability, security, and initial operating controls for a production distributed system.
The role is suited for a hands-on infrastructure/platform engineering leader who can work independently as a founding team member and make sound reliability, security, and design trade-offs across cloud, Kubernetes/OpenShift, enterprise networking, identity, and managed-service integrations.
Establish the hosting baseline, connectivity, identity, automation, observability, and initial operating controls for the Temporal platform.
Deploy and scale containerized application runtimes on OpenShift or Kubernetes.
Configure resource policies, autoscaling, networking, secrets, and GitOps promotion.
Configure enterprise SSO and integrate cloud services with identity providers, role mapping, service identities, and access controls.
Apply Infrastructure as Code and GitOps practices using Terraform, Helm, ArgoCD, or equivalent technologies.
Establish production observability using Prometheus, Grafana, and OpenTelemetry.
Operate a service across internal and vendor-owned boundaries and define clear operational responsibilities.
Support the platform as an internal shared service, including multi-tenancy, namespace isolation, and developer enablement.
Establish on-call practices and incident response for a new service.
Apply strong judgment around reliability, security, and irreversible design trade-offs.
Work with distributed systems and durable data, considering availability, consistency, backup and recovery, retention, and performance trade-offs.
5+ years of experience in platform engineering, SRE, or infrastructure engineering, with a track record of operating production distributed systems.
Deep, hands-on platform engineering experience across cloud, Kubernetes/OpenShift, or managed service environments.
Experience configuring enterprise SSO and integrating cloud services with identity providers, role mapping, service identities, and access controls.
Experience deploying and scaling containerized application runtimes on OpenShift or Kubernetes, including resource policies, autoscaling, networking, secrets, and GitOps promotion.
Strong understanding of distributed systems and durable data, including availability, consistency, backup and recovery, retention, and performance trade-offs.
Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code and GitOps, including Terraform, Helm, ArgoCD, or equivalent.
Production observability experience with Prometheus, Grafana, and OpenTelemetry.
Experience operating a service across internal and vendor-owned boundaries and defining clear operational responsibilities.
Excellent judgment on reliability, security, and irreversible design trade-offs, with the ability to work independently as a founding team member.
Hands-on experience with Temporal or a comparable durable-execution/workflow engine such as Cadence, specifically administering or integrating the platform rather than only building workflows against it.
Experience running platforms as an internal shared service, including multi-tenant environments, namespace isolation, and developer enablement.
Proficiency in Go.
Familiarity with Temporal SDKs, including Java, Go, and TypeScript.
Cloud, enterprise networking, private connectivity, identity, and managed-service integration depth.
Experience establishing on-call practices and incident response for a new service.
